When the adult children of a foreign professional employed in Taiwan to engage in professional work and granted permanent residence by the National Immigration Agency (NIA), Ministry of the Interior, are determined by the NIA to meet one of the following conditions, they can apply to the Ministry of Labor for a work permit directly without having to do so through an employer:
1. They have lived in Taiwan for an accumulated 10 years or more and live in the country for 270 days or more each year.
2. They arrived in Taiwan under 16 years of age and live in the country for 270 days or more each year.
3. Were born in Taiwan, have lived legally in the country for an accumulated 10 years or more and a minimum of 183 days each year.
